Construction Plans FAQs

Can I make changes to the plans?

Often times people that purchase the Pacific Bin or Cedar Hollow plans use them as a point of reference while designing their homes with their own architect/engineering firm. I built both homes 100% by myself and spent hundreds of hours refining each of the details to ensure durability, constructability and cost saving measures are implemented throughout all aspects of the designs.

Can I start building after I purchase the plans?

It all depends on your local codes and regulations. Make sure you check with your local building departments before start any construction project. You also will need to check with a local architect/engineering firm the ensure that all construction details will work for your site as there are many variables when building across the world.

How much will it cost to build?

This is one of the trickiest questions as there are so many variables that go into building homes. A few of these are as follows; quality of interior finishes, amount of site preparation, utility connections, contractor rates, building codes, permitting fees, raw materials and the cost of labor across different regions. I recommend purchasing the plans and distributing to multiple contractors to get the most competitive pricing.

Do you offer consultations before I buy?

If you’re on the fence and need that little extra encouragement, feel free to book a consulting call with me. Ask any questions you might have about construction, planning, short term rentals, marketing or anything else you might have questions about. I charge $300 for a one hour video call. Email me if you’d like to set something up, my email is info@thepacificbin.com.

Can you build the home for me?

Yes! I recently have begun taking on builds for clients. If you’re in the Washington region please shoot me an email (info@thepacificbin.com) and we can explore some potential options. P.S. if I build the home for you and you’re intending the home to be a short term rental, I’ll be documenting the entire process on Youtube building you a clientele base of future guests. I also offer short term rental management and can list the home under my brand.

Why do the Construction plans cost so much?

The Pacific Bin construction plans cost me $13,000 with all of the documents/revisions included in this set and the Cedar Hollow plans cost me $7,500. The value you get when purchasing either one of these sets of plans is incredible. I’ve also built directly from each of these plan sets so any tweaks/revisions are included in the plan sets.
